AXA Coach Services on Friday launched its newest product, an airport shuttle service to ferry travelers to and from the country’s major airports.

The company says the shuttle services, which will commute between the central business district areas of Capital Lilongwe and Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) and the commercial city of Blantyre and Chileka Airport, will offer the most affordable and reliable services to travellers.

“We are going to complete a travelling cycle after we noted a gap that was there in the travelling and hospitality industry,” AXA marketing manager Peter Chisale told journalists in Lilongwe during the launch of the double deck shuttle with an open air upper deck.

He said the new services’ timetable has been synchronised with flight schedules and travelers staying in hotels will be picked from the hotels.

“All the major hotels will come on board because this is the service the hospitality industry was looking forward to. It is a missing link and we are already thinking of the future where will be able to also organise tours to tourists destinations,” said Chisale.

The new services is likely to hurt the taxi industry which according to AXA figures, was charging as much as K15 000 or $30 dollars on Lilongwe-KIA route with the company drastically reducing the amount to an introductory sum of K7 000.
